New Contract

A new three year agreement was reached and approved by the membership with the MCA of MD, Inc. on March 27, 2010 at a special meeting.

The scale and fringes for journeymen will remain the same as the previous contract for 1 year. Next year, base wage adjustments will be made if industry fund hours exceed 2,150,000 hours. Pension and medical fringe modifications will be made if actuarial reports indicate additional modifications are required if no additional benefits on these funds are provided. On April 1, 2012, the base wage will increase by $1.50.

NEW: In order to secure the future of our Medical Fund, we were compelled to make the following adjustments to the Economic Package as of May 2011:

Reallocate Target Fund ($.30) to Medical Fund;
Reallocate COUNT contribution ($.08) to Medical Fund;
Additional member's contribution ($.25) to Medical Fund.

As a result, the "journeyman scale" was reduced to $35.585.

Example: $36.215 old rate

-.25 new medical contribution

-.30 J.T.P. (Job Targeting Program)

-.08 COUNT contribution

$35.585 new rate as of May 2011

This also lowered the dues structure by eliminating the COUNT contribution ($.08), J.T.P. ($.30), and adding the new U. A. PAC contribution of $.05.

Example: $1.04 old check-off

+.30 J.T.P

$1.34 old rate

-.30 eliminate J.T.P.

-.08 eliminate COUNT

+.05 addition of new U.A. PAC Fund
$1.01 new check-off

These accounting adjustments were made to add $.63 to our Medical Fund. By reducing the "scale rate" and lowering the "dues", we have maintained the total package of $51.345.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but tough choices were made to keep our Medical Fund solvent.
