UNION MEETING 2/9/10
THE UNION MEETING SCHEDULED FOR TONIGHT IS CANCELLED BECAUSE OF THE INCOMING STORM. THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE HELD AS SCHEDULED IN MARCH.
NEW CONTRACT
A new 3 year contract was approved by the membership on March 29, 2007. The new contract includes a $2.60 increase for 2009-2010.
Effective 4/1/09, $2.02 was added to the base wage.
The new package, effective 4/1/09 is: Scale $36.215; Medical $6.02; Pension $5.41; Annuity $2.83; Training Fund $.44; Industry Fund $.33. Total benefits package: $15.13. Total Package: $51.345 for journeymen working regular time. The dues checkoff increased by $.02 to $1.04; JTP increased to $.30/hr; a Building Fund of $.05/hr was established.
U. A. LICENSE PLATES
U. A. Local 486 has established a MVA of MD license plate displaying the U. A. logo for our members. The plates are available through the hall for a fee of $25.00. An application to the MVA must accompany the payment, and the member is responsible for turning in their old tags to the MVA.If you have any questions, or to request an application, please call Mark or Linda at the hall.
TWIC
Enroll now for TWIC (Transportation WorkerIdentification Credential)at the TWIC website http://twicinformation.tsa.dhs.gov or call 1-866-347-TWIC (8942).Anyone who needs unescorted access to secure areas of ports, facilities, or vessels regulated by the Maritime Transportation Security Act will need to obtain a TWIC.
2009 SCHOLARSHIP GOLF TOURNAMENT
The 11th Annual Golf Championship, to benefit the U. A. Local 486/Bernard J. Vondersmith Memorial Scholarship Fund, was held on Friday, October 2, 2009 at Mountain Branch, 827 Mountain Road, Joppa, Maryland. All proceeds from the outing are used to help our members' children and grandchildren with post-high school education costs.
